Implant Application with Surgical Guide Technique

Technological and software developments in dentistry which also help to review and renew existing treatment methods. And one of these innovations is the use of Guide, which is now preferred in conventional implant applications which is known as flapless implant application in daily life

Developments in imaging and software systems are used in the field of dentistry which allow physicians to work in 3D. The 3-dimensional technology provides convenience to the physician during the procedure, from positioning to implementation the implant where Technological support combined with the physician knowledge and experience to create the best results.

The physician can also plan all the details on the patient’s three-dimensional computed tomography image that uses the hardware and software technology which allows the design of prostheses before starting the treatment.

What is surgical guide?

Although surgical plaque has different names such as surgical guide, its duty to create a guide for the region to be implanted. The guide is prepared according to the oral model taken from the patient where a hole is opened in order to place the implant in the place where the procedure will be performed. The socket allows the physician to place the implant on the right angle on the bone.

What is flapless implant?

In the implant application that is performed by the classical method, the implant is placed on the bone after the gum is cut and the process is completed after the gum is sutured. In the use of surgical guide, there will be no cutting process or sutures in the gingiva (gum) that’s why it is called the flapless implant application.

What are the stages of flapless implant application?

Tomography of the patient must be performed before the implantation with surgical guide. The physician makes a general evaluation with tomography. If the physician determines the suitability of the patient for the implant procedure, the patient’s oral measurement is taken.

After this stage, the process of preparing the patient begins. The surgical guide is placed in the patient’s mouth. With the guide, the implant locations are determined and the implants are placed in the jawbone through the slots in the guide.

Implant planning with 3D tomography and 3D scanning

3D dental tomography clearly shows all the details of the patient’s jaw structure. The measurement that is taken from the patient is transferred to the computer for the next step. The condition of bone and soft tissues is carried to the computer. Using of this special program combines hard and soft textures in a computer environment.

These data provide the physician with the location, position, anatomical cavities of the jawbone, neighbours, the relationship between hard and soft tissue, and also allow the superstructure porcelain planning to begin after the surgical procedure.

After the guide is placed in the patient’s mouth, the place where the implant will be applied is opened with a special technique. The implant is inserted into the correct position and angle through the surgical guide through the drilled hole.

surgical guide technique can be applied to everyone except in cases requiring advanced surgery.

What are the advantages of surgical guide and flapless implant application?

The healing process is much quicker and more comfortable compared to the classical implant application because of its flapless and no trauma to the soft tissue. There is no need for suturing at the end of the procedure because there is no incision on the gum. Damage to the gums is minimal. Edema is rarely seen in the treated area with the application of ice and drugs to be used. No swelling or bruising to be noticed from the outside. Immediate loading can be done without waiting for the prosthesis process.

After the procedure, daily routines can be done also food can be eaten after 1-2 hours from the operation.

How is the surgical guide applied?

After the surgical guide is placed in the patient’s mouth, the place where the implant will be applied is marked on the gum. The marked area is opened by a special technique. The jaw bone is reached through the hole on the guide and the slot where the implant is located is prepared. In soft tissue, the implant is placed in the slot after the hole is made suitable. The process is terminated by wearing the healing head or gingival shaper.
