Diş BeyazlatmaWhat is bleaching?

Bleaching is the elimination of coloring problems by a series of processes with the aid of whitening gels of the porous enamel layer which is colored for a variety of reasons. Bleaching is a procedure that determines the rate of color change according to the tooth structure and must be applied to the control of a physician.

Why bleaching is needed?

The day-to-day cleaning routine ensures that we have a healthy mouth and teeth. However, during the day, our cousins, genetics and drugs used by the mother during the development process in the mother’s womb, cigarettes which we drink in daily life, products with dyeing such as tea, and even the fluorine content in the water cause coloring in the enamel layer. In fact, the elements we have mentioned so far are also the answer to the question “Why are my teeth not white?”

Cigarettes, tea, coffee and sodas consumed especially during the day cause significant color changes in the teeth as well as aesthetic concerns become important in the developing society and the need for a beautiful smile brings the option of bleaching to the fore. It is an important aesthetic choice for service sector employees who are in direct communication with people, such as media, public relations, bank sector employees.

What are the methods of bleaching?

There are two types of tooth bleaching performed under the control of a physician, depending on the type of application. The so-called office bleaching (Power Bleaching) is about 1 hour in the clinical setting. The whitening gel applied to the outer surface of the advertised tooth reacts with a special light used. It is a fast and effective bleaching management. In this process, opening is made in 3-4 tonnes of tooth color during a session.

Another method is home type (Home Bleaching) bleaching. Whitening process is longer than office type bleaching. It is a process that takes 5 to 7 days depending on the coloring condition of the tooth surface. Before home bleaching, a special mouthpiece is made. The bleaching gels placed in the prepared mouth are applied to the teeth with the help of the mouthpiece by attaching in 4-8 hours a day.

Can everyone whiten the teeth?

The bleaching of the teeth with the help of bleaching agents is a safe operation that everyone can do. If this procedure is done at a clinic in a reliable clinic, there is no damage to the teeth. It is important that people who want to do bleaching pass through a dentist’s examination. Treatment of advanced caries and gingival problems before the bleaching process should be done after the examination. The bleaching process, which is not recommended for those who continue to grow and develop, should be done with caution in pregnancy and lactating mothers.

What are the side effects of bleaching?

Temporary sensitivities may occur in the teeth due to bleaching. It is possible to remove these sensitivity problems with simple intervention.

The bleaching applied by the physician is a safe operation without any damage to the teeth. Bleaching prevents patients from cutting teeth to get rid of discolored teeth, allowing patients to use their teeth for longer periods of time.

How long does the effect of bleaching?

How long will the patient use the white teeth that are obtained is directly related to the habits during and after the treatment. After bleaching treatment, the patient should be able to stay away from tobacco and tobacco products such as cigarettes, cigars, hookahs, pipes, and coffee, tea, wine, tomato paste, acid and food stains for at least two weeks or should consume them as little as possible. After this process, the patient should be very careful to brush their teeth and obstruct as much as possible the adhesion of the coloring materials to the tooth surface. If these conditions are not taken into consideration, the coloring will occur again. Therefore, the success achieved after bleaching treatment in patients with good oral hygiene will continue for a longer period of time.

The success of bleaching (ie how white it will be) varies from person to person. This variability is directly related to the color causing condition. If the patient does not have advanced fluorosis, some hereditary fastnesses, or antibiotic coloration at a later stage, the chances of success will be high. In addition, the success of bleaching treatment will decrease in older ages. In such cases, bleaching treatments alone will not suffice and further restorative and prosthetic treatments may be needed. However, such cases take up little space in the routine, almost every coloring type can be removed with bleaching treatment.
