Hi, how can we help?

What is orthodontics?

Orthodontics, which means smooth teeth for Greek, is now a branch of dentistry that treats not only teeth but also lower and middle facial irregularities. Orthodontics examines the relationship between the position and the teeth of the upper and lower maxillas in three dimensions.

In which situations is orthodontic treatment required?

Orthodontic treatment is needed when crossbite exists in the mouth. The crossing is the opposite of normal mouth closure, ie, the lower teeth are higher than the upper teeth. Except crossbite:

• In situations where the front teeth are too far away and the lips do not touch each other,
• In situations where the teeth are not properly placed or overlap each other,
• In situations where the teeth are arranged at very intervals,
• When you bring your teeth to the closing, if there is a large gap between the lower and upper front cutters, if the teeth are positioned too far away from each other ie. inopenbit cases,

• If there is too much clearance between your front cutting teeth,
• In situations where there is no obvious crowding in the teeth, or having difficulty in chewing or saying some letters,
• You should apply to a dentist in children over 4 years old or older continue to emit finger or nipple.

It is important that the children who have lost milk teeth before the fall time, and especially the children in the age group of 6, should be taken to and examined by the child’s dentist in the absence of milk shortages falling before the time of extraction or dent.

Is there an age limit in orthodontic treatment?

Individuals of all age groups may have orthodontic treatment. In recent years there has been a marked increase in the number of adults who have received orthodontic treatment. The so-called preventive orthodontic treatment is performed especially in children between 8 and 15 years of age. Before the orthodontic treatment begins, all of the child’s permanent teeth should emerge. Continuous teeth start to emerge at 6 – 7 years and continue until 12-14 years of age. For this reason, orthodontic treatment should be started after 12 years of age.

Treatment Time varies from 8 to 24 months according to tooth structure.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

What are the apparatus used for treatment?

• Moving Bracket: It is the apparatus that the patient can insert and remove. It is applied in simpler cases in early period treatment.

• Functional / orthopedic apparatus: In order to correct the deformed relations of the lower and upper maxillas (orthopedic problems), it is the apparatus that the patients themselves can attach and remove at a young age before the adolescence period. It is often used with fixed orthodontic apparatus.

• Orthognathic Surgery: Disorders in maxilla and face may be inherited or may occur later due to accidents and diseases. The mismatch of the maxillas to each other and to the face leads to aesthetic, functional and psychological disturbances in patients. In these cases Orthognathic Surgery is performed.

• Ortho-Aligner: Ortho-Aligner is an alternative treatment that is applied without bracket in some orthodontic disorders. Sensitive measurement tools are used for torque and angle control on models. This allows the teeth to move within the physiological limits. Then the computer program confirms the movement of 1 mm. The measurements made at this point are also checked again. Once measurements are made, rotations are performed at specific rates on the teeth. Thus, the teeth come to the desired position at a certain time. For each revised model, 3 separate plaques are printed. The plates are in the range of 0.5 mm – 0.625 mm – 0.75 mm. These plates allow the teeth to move by a total of 1 mm with slight forces.

It can be corrected by using transparent borders designed in computer environment. These transparent plates, which are produced in different numbers according to the condition of the teeth, are changed every 2 weeks and desired movements are provided in the teeth.
