What is sedation?
Sedation, pain, anxiety and fear that may occur during dental treatment to eliminate pain, pain relief, is the process of using a combination of drugs. In short, it is a deep sleep state.
What is the difference between sedation and general anesthesia?
In sedation, the patient continues to breathe normally. In general anesthesia procedures called respiratory intubation; one end is carried out by means of pipes connected to the lungs and the other end to the devices blowing air. For the intubation process, muscle relaxant medications given to the patients by the patient cause the patient to wake up late. In sedation procedures, the patient can recover in a very short time at the end of the procedure. No drug enters the systemic circulation through the blood, but the patient is put to sleep with only the gas. It is an extremely comfortable and comfortable method for patients.
Is there any risks?
Sedation is a very safe treatment. However, side effects and allergic reactions can be seen depending on the drugs used. These side effects can be eliminated quickly and easily in the control of a specialist team, and the chance of encounter by general anesthesia is lower.

- In patients who cannot have dental treatment due to nausea, vomiting and retching reflex

Could you tell us about yourself briefly?
I was born in 1975 in Çorlu. In 1998, I graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Dentistry. In 2006, I completed my PhD in Ankara University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pedodontics. I have been actively practicing for 10 years.
